چکیده
Blast disease is a highly destructive and causes significant yield losses in rice. To address this issue, study was chosen focused on stacking of the Pi9along with CO 51+Pi54, which provide broad-spectrum resistance to blast pathogen. This demonstrated that Pi9 along against disease. An advanced breeding line evaluated for natural hotspot region over two growing seasons (kharif 2021 kharif 2022). All 36 progenies revealed genetic potential stacked genes exhibiting 2022. The recurrent parent, 51 moderately resistant while Pi9+Pi54 displayed score 0<2, indicating strong resistance. Average single plant has been increased 0.28% 35.05% NILs 51. Maximum 35.05 % recorded progeny #20x6-5-11-121 followed by #20x6-5-11-125 (31.65%). Extensive sequence variation in rice blast resistance gene Pi54 makes it broad spectrum in nature
Rice blast resistant gene, Pi54 cloned from rice line, Tetep, is effective against diverse isolates of Magnaporthe oryzae. In this study, we prospected the allelic variants of the dominant blast resistance gene from a set of 92 rice lines to determine the nucleotide diversity, pattern of its molecular evolution, phylogenetic relationships and evolutionary dynamics, and to develop allele specifi...

Blast is the most common biotic stress leading to the reduction of rice yield in many rice-growing areas of the world, including Malaysia. Improvement of blast resistance of rice varieties cultivated in blast endemic areas is one of the most important objectives of rice breeding programs. In this study, the marker-assisted backcrossing strategy was applied to improve the blast resistance of the...

Severe yield loss due to various biotic stresses like bacterial blight (BB), gall midge (insect) and Blast (disease) and abiotic stresses like submergence and salinity are a serious constraint to the rice productivity throughout the world. The most effective and reliable method of management of the stresses is the enhancement of host resistance, through an economical and environmentally friendl...

Introduction The potato (Solanum tuberosum) originated from South America and is now the third largest crop in the world, after rice and wheat. Potato is a cross pollinated and vegetatively propagated crop, with a genome size around 840 MB, which was recently sequenced. Most potato cultivars are autotetraploid, with breeding programs lasting for 12–15 years. Among many biotic and abiotic stress...

Rice blast, caused by the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae, is a major constraint to rice production worldwide. In this study, we developed monogenic near-isogenic lines (NILs) NIL Pi9, NIL Pizt , and NIL Pi54 carrying genes Pi9, Pizt, and Pi54, respectively, by marker assisted backcross breeding using 07GY31 as the japonica genetic background with good agronomic traits. Polygene pyramid line...
